What fractional means

Creative leadership on a part-time basis.

A full-time creative director is a large fixed cost, and many lean teams don't have a full year of work for one. A fractional creative director gives you the same senior judgment for a set number of hours or deliverables each month.

You get someone who sets the creative direction, briefs and reviews the work, keeps your messaging consistent across channels, and still makes key pieces with their own hands. The scope is written down, so everyone knows what each month includes.

Engagement models

Three ways to work together.

Creative Direction Intensive

A focused session and written direction when you have work in progress and a decision to make: a website, a campaign or a presentation.

Best for: a clear next step, fast.

Fractional creative director

A monthly allocation covering direction, reviews and hands-on production, with a monthly priorities session and a completed-work summary.

Best for: lean teams with steady creative demand.

Defined project

A scoped campaign, website or sales-material project with agreed milestones, two consolidated review rounds and one approver.

Best for: a launch or a deadline.

Investment: projects start at $2,500 USD; ongoing support is billed from $120 USD per hour as an agreed monthly allocation. Scope, timing and investment are confirmed in writing before work begins. Ongoing support does not include unlimited or on-call availability.

Questions

Fractional creative director FAQ

What does a fractional creative director do?

A fractional creative director provides senior creative leadership on a part-time, ongoing basis. That usually means setting creative direction, briefing and reviewing work, keeping brand and messaging consistent, and producing key pieces directly, for a defined number of hours or deliverables each month.

How is this different from hiring an agency?

You work directly with Dennis, the person shaping the strategy and doing the work. There are no account layers or hand-offs, and the scope is a written monthly allocation rather than an open-ended retainer.

How much does a fractional creative director cost?

Projects start at $2,500 USD and ongoing support is billed from $120 USD per hour, agreed as a monthly allocation before work begins. Scope, timing and investment are confirmed in writing.

Who is this a good fit for?

Lean marketing teams, not-for-profits, insurance and professional-services firms, and growing brands that need senior creative judgment and consistent output but not a full-time creative director salary.

Do you work outside Hamilton?

Yes. Creative Consulting is based in Hamilton, Ontario and works with teams across Southern Ontario and Canada, in person where it helps and remotely the rest of the time.
